Heat transport promotion structures
The further heat dissipation technology is needed for the achievement of the device miniaturization. Therefore, we have focused on the porous structure and developed a structure that promotes heat transfer based on the volume averaging theory and the optimization theory.

Seawater resource recovery
Seawater contains not only salt but also useful resources such as lithium, magnesium and strontium. We have developed a technique to concentrate and precipitate only specific ions. We have already succeeded in continuous recovery of some minerals, and we will apply it to Zero Discharge Desalination in the future.

The world is in serious water shortage. Therefore, We has focused on both the reverse osmosis desalination (RO) and the electrodialysis desalination (ED), which are seawater desalination technologies. These desalination methods have been studyed in for achiving further energy saving and low environmental burden.

Local weather forecast
Due to the increase in heat generation density in urban areas, local meteorological phenomena such as the sudden rainstorm are occurring. In order to accurately predict the weather in a limited area, it is necessary to propose a suitable weather model for the intended area. Therefore, in this research, we have proposed an urban meteorological model derived by volume averaging theory, and performed local meteorological prediction.

Stenosis-less artificial blood vessel
In dialysis treatment, obstruction of vascular access due to stenosis is often a big problem. We have disputed the occurrence of stenosis by the physiological mechanism so far, and have explained the mechanism of stenosis generation from the viewpoint of fluid dynamics. We have developed a stenosis-less artificial blood vessel by utilizing the knowledge we have gained so far.

Dialysis treatment
In recent years, new dialysis techniques such as nighttime dialysis, home dialysis, and Online HDF have appeared. However, since the treatment conditions are different from previous hemodialysis, each clinic may have different treatment policies. Therefore, we have theoretically examined the transport of toxins in the dialyzer and the human body, and proposed the optimal treatment policy.

Food processing involves processes related to heat and mass transfer, such as baking, boiling, drying, and extracting. By revealing these transport phenomena, we will be able to cook food more deliciously and store it for a longer period of time.

Scale suppression technology
The minerals contained in water are deposited in power plants, factories, boilers, and membrane devices etc.. The scale causes a decrease in performance of heat and mass transfer. We have proposed a technology to suppress scale without using chemicals. We are further improving the its efficiency.

Bioplant for microalgae
We have developed a bioplant for microalga of about 10 micrometers, which realizes highly productivity and energy-saving. We has developed a special bioreactor and succeeded in dramatically increasing the culture rate. Someday, this bioplant may be the key for solving the world's food and energy problems.
